If you’ve never worn contact lenses before, it can seem a bit intimidating. After all, you’re inserting something into your eye! Let’s ease your mind about the first step – your contact lens exam.
Your eye doctor will first determine your overall eye health and vision. This includes a discussion of your health history and then a series of standard eye tests.
These tests will evaluate eye focusing, eye teaming, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and the response of your pupils to light.
The doctor will also measure your eye’s fluid pressure to check for glaucoma, evaluate your retina and optic nerve, and test your vision with different lenses to assess whether contact lenses can improve your vision.
Highly recommend if you are in the DC area. Great location and great experience with everyone in the office.
I enjoyed my eye exam with Dr. Ayalew. I also thought the staff was very friendly and helpful in helping me find my new glasses. I look forward to my next eye exam.
Dr. Ayalew is delightful! She is knowledgeable, professional and kind. She answered all my questions and was interesting to talk to about the health and science of eyes. I am grateful I have finally found a great eye doctor!
Very thorough and thoughtful from the moment I walked through the doors. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There was little to no wait and I felt like they took great care during my exam.
Dr. Ayalew was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. I was seen right away, had an efficient initial check up with an assistant, and completed a thorough yet quick exam with Dr. Ayalew. I appreciated her lessons and descriptions about eye health and would definitely recommend her.
Dr. Ayalew was really great. She was very friendly and quick, but not rushed. She explained everything to me and took her time to make sure I was satisfied with the lens Rx she prescribed. Her staff was also friendly and attentive.
Dr. Ayew is consistently excellent, as is the doctor I saw most recently; Dr. Lee. She is thorough, knowledgeable, compassionate, and clearly cares about her patients.
Everyone in the office was very friendly - the receptionist, the eye tech, the doctor, and the office manager. The doctor heard my concerns and didn't dismiss my experience with contact lenses that hurt (unlike a previous doctor I saw). I'm glad I found a doctor that I actually want to return to.
Fast and courteous! I've found my new eye doctor in DC. The front desk staff and assistants are all so kind and welcoming. I waited no more than 10 minutes on a Friday before a long weekend. The total for my annual eye exam came out to under two hundo -- fair enough for a once a year visit in my opinion. Will be back!
Dr. Ayalew and her staff were very kind and helpful. As someone who had gone 10 years without an eye exam, I did not know what to expect, but they took care of me promptly and guided me through every step of the process. I would certainly recommend this doctor and office, and plan on returning there for my future eye-care needs.
